Repetition, Multiple, Copy, Instance, Clone December 6, 2007

In conjunction with the special exhibition 'Deja Vu?', this lecture will examine the nature of the repetition, the copy, the multiple and the instantiation of repeatable pieces as they intersect across a wide span of 20th century artworks. John Weber will consider perceived notions of uniqueness, originality and authenticity in relationship to repetition and visual similarity within and across individual artworks as well as how economic factors of the art market and connoisseurship come into play.
