200 Eastern Pky
Brooklyn, New York 11238

A site-specific installation created by Situ Studio, an architectural firm specializing in design and fabrication, will inaugurate the first phase of the Brooklyn Museum's project for the 10,000-square-foot colonnaded hall on the first floor. The installation will use the architecture of the Hall to create a system of canopies to transform and refigure the space. Twelve to fifteen existing monumental columns will be used to create a network of stretched semitranslucent fabric, plywood forms, and molded benches and tables. Situ Studio is a creative practice that engages in experimental work in a variety of media that develops flexible strategies to address spatial problems. The renovated Hall is by Polshek Partnership Architects.
