Perrier-Jouët has partnered with famed contemporary artist Michael Kalish to create a three-dimensional, 14-and-a-half foot tall sculpture to be unveiled in the Hudson River Park at the Charles Street entrance, near Pier 46, on Monday, June 11th at 6pm. The sculpture will then be on display for four weeks and is free and open to the public.
The sculpture consists of two swooping anemone stems created out of stainless steel and bent aluminum tubing. The flower petals are hand cut layers of aluminum with gold metal piping from more than 100 Perrier-Jouët Champagne cages. In addition, hundreds of champagne corks were ground to a fine consistency and inlayed in the base. Perrier-Jouët partnered with Michael Kalish to create his interpretation of a beautiful, alluring garden to pay homage to the Perrier- Jouët Belle Époque bottle motif. The magnificent and delicate anemone flower is an iconic symbol of the House of Perrier-Jouët and served as inspiration for Kalish’s “Belle Époque” sculpture.
