Renée Rey Art (First Prize Winner) in Annual 2D-3D All Florida Juried Exhibition July 9, 2009

Two painting by Renée Rey, Artist entitled, "The Trio," and "Horns of Plenty," were accepted to the 23rd Annual 2D-3D All Florida Juried Exhibition at the Alliance for the Arts, 10091 McGregor Blvd., Ft. Myers, FL.

Rey was awarded First Prize for her painting, "The Trio" at the Opening Reception on June 5. Over 200 artists submitted pieces for this show, and 38 were selected for exhibition.

The Juror of this year's art exhibit is Morgan Lewis, Arts Consultant with the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs, Florida's state arts agency. She manages the Individual Artist Fellowship Program and Grant Writing Workshops, serves as Arts Accessibility Coordinator, and organizes exhibitions for the Division's Gallery for Innovation in the Arts.

Rey's acrylic paintings are part of her "In the Spirit" Series.
Reminiscent of time-honored black and white photographs, Renée Rey’s lyrical acrylic and mixed media paintings and drawings in this series pay homage to the sounds and movement of music and dance from the past to the present. She creates a world in which the musician is center stage surrounded by a rhythm of inspiration. The artist focuses on the expression of the face and the details of the hands creating a message of the connection between and transcendence of mind, body, and spirit. The emotions of the musician elevate the sense of majesty surrounding the musician and magical instrument. There is a sense of playfulness and mystery while the audience is enraptured with the final artistic vision of the artist’s creative process.
