Remembering Martopangrawit – A Gamelan Symposium and Concert Celebration April 17, 2011

R.L. Martopangrawit (1914-1986) was one of the most revered Javanese gamelan musicians and theorists of the twentieth century. We celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of his passing with a symposium discussing his legacy as a scholar and teacher, followed by a concert featuring several of his compositions. Many of his former students will be featured as guest performers, including I.M. Harjito, Midiyanto, and Sumarsam.
