Religious Freedom, the Constitution, and Faithful Citizenship

The Center for Faith and Culture at the University of St. Thomas invites you to a lecture and panel discussion on "Religious Freedom, the Constitution and Faithful Citizenship," with Francis Rooney, retired U.S. ambassador to the Holy See, the Most Rev. Daniel Cardinal DiNardo, archbishop of Galveston-Houston, and Randall Rainey, scholar of constitutional law and public policy, at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 12 at Jones Hall, 3910 Yoakum Blvd.

Pope Benedict XVI, in his recent statements to American Bishops, has laid heavy emphasis on religious freedom as the primary human right from which all others flow. The vocation of the laity calls them to participate in civil society in creating a way of life that brings humanity to its fullness. This dialogue will address the issues related to religious freedom and suggest strategies for faithful citizens to protect it in the American context.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact 713-942-5066 or [email protected].
