Relay For Life - Elizabeth River June 5, 2009

One day. One night. One community. Your Relay For Life® is about celebration, remembrance, and hope. By participating, you honor cancer survivors, pay tribute to the lives we've lost to the disease, and raise money to help fight cancer all right here in your community. You won't want to miss one moment of this life and community-affirming event!

Event Activities
The following activities will require preparation before June 5 by teams who wish to participate. These are fun things to do that show your Team Spirit and help pass the evening. Be creative and have fun!!!

The Road to Recovery Race - Teams make box cars and race them around the track/field. Each car has room for both a "driver" and a "patient", emulating the Road to Recovery program offered by the American Cancer Society.

Newspaper Dress making Contest - Teams make a unique dress on one person from their team out of newspaper and duck-tape. Only Newspaper & Duck-tape can be used. The best dress wins.

Relay Celebrity Look Alike Contest - Relayers of all ages dress up like a Celebrity of the opposite sex. Example: Guys dress up like Marilyn Monroe, Cher , etc. Girls dress up like Elvis, Brad Pitt, etc. RULES: Each contestant will need to report to the main stage at specified time ready to show off imitation. At this time donations can be collected from the audience. Each contestant will then have to answer one Relay For Life and American Cancer Society related question. Finally they will "strut their stuff" on stage one last time. The winner will be crowned Mr or Miss Relay for Life!!!

Relay Idol - Relayers will sign up and a reward will be given for most entertaining & creative performance.. Use your imagination. You must provide us with a CD if there is a certain song you are going to perform. Trophies will be awarded..

Team Spirit Lap - Teams are to decorate a baton and show off to be judged. The most creative baton will win.
