Registration will open at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, August 19 for two Fall Sessions of art classes for children and adults at the Las Cruces Museum of Art. Class schedules and registration forms are available at the Museum and on the website http://museums.las-cruces.org. Classes for adults include a variety of clay classes, such as Animal Sculpture, Extreme Hand-Building, and Elaborate Surfaces in Clay. The Museum now offers several painting classes: watercolor, acrylic, classical oil painting and a one-day Renaissance oil painting workshop. The Digital Photography program has been expanded to include Introduction to Digital Filmmaking and Photoshop courses. New classes this fall include Science Art, exploring the intersection between science and art through a range of media, and Mixed Media Sculpture, creating three-dimensional forms through assemblage, collage, carving and found objects. The Museum is also pleased to offer Triangular Shawl Weaving, a four-week workshop on creating wearable fiber art. Teens are welcome to attend all adult classes.

Classes for young artists include ceramics, with classes to accommodate ages 4 12, and Story-Time Art, for ages 9-12, which uses music, stories, and mythology to spark the imagination. For ages 5-8, the Museum now offers Imagination Design Adventures, exploring drawing, painting, and collage. Art-o-Rific Mix-o-Rama, for ages 6-8, is a new class featuring projects inspired by famous painters.
