The Buddha?s teachings provide a variety of methods which people have used for 2500 years to look within for true contentment. This year?s conference includes workshops on Buddhist texts, practices, and modern issues presented by monastic and lay disciples from the Dharma Realm Buddhist Association.

methods which people have used for 2500 years to look within for true contentment. This year?s conference includes workshops on Buddhist texts, practices, and modern issues presented by monastic and lay disciples from the Dharma Realm Buddhist Association.

Traditionally, the DRBY Spring Conference consists of two and a half days of guided discussions on topics related to Buddhism. The goal is for young people to join together and use their collective wisdom to gain understanding of Buddhism and develop fresh perspectives on modern issues. Speakers and workshop leaders are respected monastic and lay disciples of Dharma Realm Buddhist Association as well as specially invited guests. Most participants stay at the hosting monastery and join in daily ceremonies and meditation.

The 2006 Spring Conference will be held at the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas in Talmage, California. The monastery, founded by the Venerable Master Hsuan Hua, is located Talmage provides a peaceful and quiet sanctuary for the Conference. Participants will choose workshops from three tracks: Modern Issues, Buddhist Scriptures, and Practice. Workshops in the Modern Issues track directly relate to the issues and challenges we face in the 21st Century, such as Vegetarianism, Science, and Relationships. The Buddhist Scriptures track includes a workshop introducing the Buddhist canon, followed by individual sutra workshops lead by speakers for whom the sutra is an integral part of their personal cultivation and life. The Practice Track will provide participants with the opportunity to delve into various Buddhist practices for themselves, tasting the joy of Dharma through direct experience. The three track program is designed to help participants find a balance between study, practice, and application during the Conference.
