March 22nd Workshop - Reducing Purchasing-Related Carbon Emissions
A local municipality and a successful BC business explain how purchasing can reduce an organization's carbon footprint

Learn from local leaders as they discuss how their organizations are achieving greenhouse gas reductions by changing their purchasing practices:

* Catalyst Paper is reducing its carbon footprint. They are improving plant efficiency, switching to alternative energy, examining transportation and supply chain impacts, and working to introduce a carbon-neutral paper. Special guest Graham Kissack, Catalyst's Sustainability Director, joins us with insight into how his organization is reducing greenhouse gases through purchasing.

* The City of Vancouver has a goal to reduce 20% of its greenhouse gas emissions below 1990 levels by 2010. Victoria Wakefield, the City's Sustainable Purchasing Specialist, joins us with details on how the City has integrated this goal into RFPs to reduce emissions from its facilities, fleets and operations.

No matter what your stage of interest or expertise, this workshop will provide you with useful information to help your organization reduce its carbon footprint and mitigate climate change impacts.

Join us as to discuss:

* The business case for reducing greenhouse gas emissions
* Methodologies for measuring your emissions, and identifying purchasing ‘hot spots’
* Practical steps for reducing your emissions
* Case study examples of many leading organizations, offering practical examples of methodology discussed

Workshop cost is $295 for private/public sector (negotiable bulk rates available) and $225 for non-profit.
