Spin magazine says, "The Mars Volta render every other prog-metal-jazz-whatever band out there wholly unnecessary."
Listening to samples of their tracks, I am very impressed. These guys are smoking, like King Crimson in the "Red" period.

I saw these guys at lollapalooza circa 1992 in Detroit. They had frickin' flame throwers coming out of their heads. Flea, of course, sported whity-tighties and I think (at times) wood.
It never got any better than "Mother's Milk"
