Deeply rooted in the traditions of Appalachia, yet uncompromisingly progressive, the Acoustic Burgoo formed in 2006 at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Round Hill, VA. The group is driven by four young multi-instrumental talents: Melissa Wright, lead vocals, mandolin, guitar, songwriter, flat foot dance, Ben Walters, upright bass, clawhammer banjo, fiddle, vocals, Rudy Bzdyk, guitar, trumpet, drums, fiddle, vocals, basss and Erik Burnham, harmonica, bass, mandolin, guitar, percussion and sound effects. They flow seemlessly through a vast array of material, touching on Bluegrass, Chicago blues, Old-Time fiddle tunes, traditional Country, and Soul, and carry their influences forward in their own original material. With soulful female vocals, tight male harmonies, a whole slew of instruments, the Burgoo is known to satisfy the taste of a wide range of listeners.
