Larry Cordle & Red Barn Radio Re-team For
Free Christmas Show At UK Hospital.

Red Barn Radio is pleased to present AN APPALACHIAN CHRISTMAS IV, headlined by Grammy winning singer/songwriter, Larry Cordle, in Pavilion A of the new UK Albert B. Chandler Hospital on December 5th, at 7:30 p.m. The show, which is free and open to UK staff, patients, and family as well as the public, will be simulcast live by WUKY. Red Barn Radio will also produce a television version of the night’s performances to air on KET during the Christmas Season (TBA).
"We are thrilled to be working with UK HealthCare, its Arts in HealthCare Program, KET and WUKY to bring this Christmas show to all those family members, staff and community who may need a small window of joy during what can be an overwhelming time of year," stated Ed Commons, Executive Producer of Red Barn Radio. "The addition of the KET set to broadcast the TV portion allows for more of Kentucky to experience an evening featuring some of the region's best talent," finished Commons.

The UK Albert B. Chandler Medical Center and the Arts in HealthCare program use the arts to help create a healing environment. The concept is to make people feel more comfortable in a time of need and to invite people to visit the hospital when they are well. UK HealthCare continues its ongoing commitment to providing the best that medicine has to offer within a healing environment that conveys the unique spirit of Kentucky.

“With the opening of Pavilion A, the first phase of the visual arts program is almost complete," said Jackie Hamilton, Director, UK Arts in HealthCare. "Our efforts at this time will be focused on bringing more programmatic and performance art into the space – music, dance, poetry, theatre – with an eye forward to interactive art making for patients, families and staff.”
This is the fourth year Red Barn has produced the Appalachian Christmas program. Also scheduled to appear are: Ted Yoder, 2010 Hammered Dulcimer champion; Pam Holcomb, Appalachian story teller; Jennifer Rose, singer/songwriter (performing with her daughters); Sherri Phelps, Mezzo-soprano; Rachel Taylor, pianist; Sam Gleaves, 19 year old banjo phenom and TeenSING, the youth choir of Central Christian Church.

Red Barn Radio is a weekly syndicated program showcasing Old Time and Bluegrass musicians, both from our Commonwealth and neighboring states where Kentucky music has settled and flourished. The mission of Red Barn Radio is to preserve, promote and perform the rich musical heritage of Kentucky. For more information please go to www.redbarnradio.com or call Ed Commons at 859.338.7648.
