Over the past four years, founder Emily Duval Ledger and her team of trainers have successfully expanded the Long Beach-based company South Bay Fit Camp - what started as a single outdoor class in the park has blossomed into a full-service fitness company offering personal training, a full schedule of "fit camp" classes, nutritional counseling and workplace wellness programs throughout the city.

The time has come to change the company name into one more fitting for their expanded offerings, so this September, South Bay Fit Camp becomes Recreation Fitness. And to celebrate this new chapter, the team is hosting a free class at Whaley Park on Saturday, September 22 at 9am. The event, which features a fun array of exercises and activities in the dappled shade of Whaley Park, is free to attend, but space is limited and RSVP by Sept 20 is required. To reserve a spot, attendees must email name and phone number to [email protected].

Founded in 2008, South Bay Fit Camp has led a movement to bring joy and fun back to fitness. An antidote to fluorescent-lit gym workouts and one-size-fits-all boot camp programs, the outdoor "fit camp" classes are designed to be as fun as they are effective, and employ a wide array of activities and games that promote stress relief, laughter, and camaraderie while conditioning the body from head to toe. This event will reflect their core values, and allow the public to meet the training team.

Healthy refreshments will be provided by Long Beach's own beachgreens organic produce delivery service. For more information about their produce and delivery areas, go to www.beachgreens.com.

The company is also launching their newly redesigned website at www.RecreationFitness.com. The new site features both members' and trainers' blogs, fitness tips, recipes and other resources for those looking to get in shape and love the process.
