Circle Arts and Trinity Wallstreet are pleased
to present Rebirth at St. Cornelius, a free multimedia and
interactive art show. The theme of Rebirth is inspired by the story
of Governors Island itself. Governors Island is a former military
base that was recently sold to New York City for $1 and is being
transformed into a public space for cultural events and programs.

Rebirth at St. Cornelius features a wide variety of artistic media,
including performance, environmental installation, music, light art,
sculpture and painting. Many of these pieces include interactive and
participatory elements. Interactivity allows the show's attendees to
participate in the artwork itself. Participatory artistic experiences
build community by encouraging social interaction and blurring the lines between the artist and the spectator.

More than 16 artists' works will be exhibited, including Jeanne Angel,
Kevin Balktick, Balloonhedz, Ariane Burgess, Ursula Clark, Aaron
Goldsmith, Neal Gran, Tim Hailey, Michelle Hill, Dan McKereghan, Claribel Pichardo, Peripheral Media Projects, Philip Riley, Amy Shapiro, Bettie T.K., Zemi17.

Circle Arts, Inc. is an artist's resource organization that provides
services for artists whose work has fallen through the cracks in the
usual pathway to support. It has a 24 year history of producing and
supporting art that is non-commercial and encourages collaboration,
participation or interactivity. For more information about Circle
Arts, please see http://www.circlearts.org/.
