Reading Under the Influence: A SwapSF Book Swap November 3, 2007

SwapSF (site: http://www.swapsf.com) is throwing a book swap at CELLspace. Since our last event went so completely ridiculously well, we've got ourselves a permanent residency there. Woot!

Entry will be $5 ($10 w/out books). This will not only going be the biggest book swap you've ever considered laying your bibliophilic eyes on, it'll also feature:
. Local underground DJs including poolboy & d (4handed), and maer (Psyphy Machine/Dub Beautiful),
. $1 wine & beer
. Free Meth coffee (only if you bring your own cup!)
. 10,000 square feet of temporary autonomous bookstore,
. Journalmaking and bookbinding classes on site- turn a crap book with a cool cover into something useful,
. Wave after wave of free books for participants to shop through,
. The Insta-Library Challenge: we want to build, in the course of three hours, an entire library for Covenant House, a shelter for homeless teens. We'll also be donating to Friends of the Library,
. and some other stuff we've got in the works.

Book swaps work in exactly the same way that clothing swaps do, only there's fewer reasons to take off your pants (although no one will judge you if you do).
