La Mama presents a Two Blue Cherries production

RAT
By Chris Summers
Directed by Petra Kalive

Jill goes missing. Zach needs to find her. But how do you find someone when you're becoming just another rat?

Winner of the 2008 St Martins National Playwriting Award, RAT is a play about striving to be yourself, against the grain of expectation. Blistering, poetic and bleakly hilarious; previous development of the play has been supported by St Martins Youth Theatre and the City of Melbourne. A comic exploration of power - RAT asks us to consider who we are and what we, and other people, want us to be?

With this production, Director Petra Kalive brings together a young, stellar team with renowned actress Nikki Coghill (McLeod’s Daughters, City Homicide, Playing Beattie Bow) for Chris Summers award winning play.

"Summers has a sure gift for demotic speech, and an ability to create contradictory characters that lift out of stereotype into vital life...a writer to watch." - Alison Croggon (Theatre Notes)

"Directed with energy and unsentimental flourish, by Petra Kalive" - Elly Varrenti (The Age)
