Raoul Middleman Stirs “The Sky and the Earth” at Troika Gallery

Even for celebrated American painter Raoul Middleman, there is an almost desperate quality to painting a landscape. “With the clouds constantly creating and destroying themselves, water shimmering, and the light running away, I need to work quickly to capture the view,” he says. To achieve something new when painting a landscape, he suggests turning quickly while painting to catch nature by surprise!

Captivatingly candid, Raoul Middleman will be available to discuss the art of the landscape at the opening reception for his new show at Troika Gallery, “Raoul Middleman: The Sky and the Earth,” on Friday, July 11, 2008 from 5 to 9PM, with an Artist Talk scheduled at 7:00 PM.

He will return to Troika Gallery on Saturday, July 26th from 3 to 5 PM to give a portrait demonstration of fellow artist Kevin Fitzgerald during Easton’s 4th Annual Plein Air Competition. "The Sky and the Earth" continues through August 20th.

All events at Troika Gallery are free and open to the public. Troika Gallery is located at 9 South Harrison Street in Easton, Maryland. For more information: call (410) 770-9190 or visit www.troikagallery.com.
