Randy Moses was born and raised in Middletown. In the late 80's he moved to Los Angeles where he worked with Johnny Hartsman, Jimmy Smith, and Mark Shelby's Black Note, among others. In 1993 Moses returned to Middletown, inspired by the music he'd played and, with his brothers Fred and Thomas, formed House of Moses. House of Moses played at a number of Middletown music spots and in 2001 the group put out The House of Moses CD. When asked what kind of music he plays Moses will often say "Songs that you can trust." His roots are in Rhythm & Blues, Jazz and Mo-Town. Of individuals he says he is most influenced by Marvin Gaye and Jimmy Smith. Currently Mr. Moses works for the Middletown Board of Education by day both as a custodian and a part time music instructor. At night you can see him at Javapalooza or the Buttonwood Tree, and at events around the state.
