CHICAGO - Got sanity? Inspired by Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity, Chicagoans will join the "million moderate march" in Grant Park.

The purpose of the Rally to Restore Sanity is to "Take it down a notch for America" and help inspire the majority of Americans—"the 70-80 percenters"—who don't have extreme political views and who lack a voice in the media. While the main event is being held in the nation's capital, Chicago will join in, along with with dozens of other satellite events across the United States, Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. Chicago's rally takes place concurrently with the main event (Saturday, October 30, from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. CST) and will include a live broadcast from the DC event. Local rally attendees can also look forward to appearances by Chicago comedian/speaker Aaron Freeman, Michael Patrick Thornton of ABC's "Private Practice", Greg Hollimon of Comedy Central's "Strangers With Candy," and a wide range of other entertainment.

“This is truly a grass roots movement with midwest citizens who have come together to start a reasonable discourse on politics, religion, and personal issues without hate speech,” says organizer Angela McMahon of the Rally to Restore Sanity Chicago NFP. The group's Facebook page boasts over 5000 fans from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin, who have generously donated over $12,600 towards event expenses: park security, insurance, clean-up, port-a-john rental, and projection equipment to view the DC event in simulcast. Legal services have been donated by Kameli Law Group and Audio Equipment has been donated by Meeting Tomorrow. Additional donations and sponsors are being actively pursued, and any funds raised in excess of costs will be donated to Chicago Public Schools.

Chicagoans who wish to support the Rally can find donation links and more information at www.facebook.com/rallytorestoresanitychicago.
