Raleigh’s biggest and best Easter Egg Hunt will take place at Halifax Mall on Saturday, April 23, 2011. This is a FREE event, with more than 30,000 eggs for kids to find, as well as live music, balloons, inflatables and more.

In previous years, Raleigh Easter festivities attracted overflow crowds to Moore Square, and volunteers are prepared for an even bigger response this year. (The location was moved due to tornado damage last weekend.)

"Vintage21 loves our city and we are so excited to still be able to put on this great event," said Ethan Perkins, event coordinator for Vintage21 church. "Moving from Moore Square Park to Halifax Mall has been a challenge for us but we would not give up on giving back to our city.

"Raleigh was hit by a tornado on Saturday and because of that we have had to move our event to Halifax Mall, he said. "We have seen South East Raleigh rise up as a community and put their homes back together.

"We want this event to be a chance for all of those affected by the tornado, to relax and enjoy a beautiful and fun Saturday afternoon together as a city united."

There will be four different egg hunts, each divided into zones by age group, as well as separate zones for children with special needs. Hunts will take place at 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m., along with an Easter story reading at noon.

Raleigh Easter is sponsored by Vintage21 Church. The church’s three-day Easter celebration begins with Good Friday services (6 and 7:30 p.m.) at V21 Church’s location at 117 S. West St., Raleigh, and concludes Sunday, April 24, with an 11 a.m., Triangle-wide Easter service at city’s 2,300-seat Memorial Auditorium.

"I am ecstatic that Vintage21 is expanding its already significant Raleigh Easter footprint,” Raleigh District E city councilman Bonner Gaylord said. “It is only fitting that the provider of the biggest easter egg hunt is also providing this monumental Easter service for our city."
