Raising Finance For Your Business

Tuesday 26th August 6.00- 8.30pm

Raising Finance is a hot topic for anyone starting or growing a business.

We have invited financial experts and experienced entrepreneurs to discuss their insights, tips and pro's and cons' of raising finance from banks, business angels and venture capitalists.

Our experts include:-

Laurence Thomas, Finance Adviser for Business Link Sussex.

Laurence has a diverse and wide-ranging background, having worked for a FTSE 100 company in USA for 12 years and setting up his own manufacturing company. Laurence has specialised in financial aspects of business management and planning, in addition to providing general business advice to Sussex businesses. He advices both start up and growing companies, and works in conjunction with regional specialises to advice on the likely sources of funding available to them.

Senake Atureliya, Managing Director, Pie Finance

The PIE Micro-Investment platform (international patents pending) offers viable start-up companies who do not yet meet the requirements of the existing angel investment community direct access to the resources and funding they need to progress with no up front costs. The highly automated solution reduces risk, increases the investor audience to include suppliers and provides transparency to enable investment in a sector currently starved of investment.

NatWest/RBS Local Business Managers

NatWest provides a great financial package for new business customers including 2 years free banking, if you have been in business for less than 12 months. As well as 2 years free banking, Natwest also offers a range of other benefits. To find out more visit the website or talk to your local Business Manager.

SECA- The Regional Business Angels Network

SECA is the only truly regional business angel network in the South East, presenting investment opportunities in growth companies across the region. It is managed by Finance South East and is a member of the British Business Angel Association. In 2007, SECA won an award as European Business Angel Network of the year.

Ian Elwick, Director, The Werks

Ian has a wide range of experience advising and raising finance for many creative SME’s and Startups. His experience includes securing funds for StreetVibes Youth in 2006, a music and creative arts for NEET youth; "What on Earth" organic food wholesaler and for The Werks: a supportive, collaborative and affordable work environment for individuals and small businesses, where he is currently a director.

The discussion will cover how you present your business case, what pitfalls you want to avoid and any other burning questions you might want to ask. We encourage discussion and interaction throughout the event so you leave with all the right info to hand!
