PIERROT’S TROUPE Presents
RAHE NAAM PAKISTAN KA (A Solo by Ajitabh Sen Gupta)
February 3 (Sunday) 7:30 pm SHRI RAM CENTRE,Mandi House
Script and Direction: Dr. M. SAYEED ALAM
Duration- 1:30 hrs.
RAHE NAAM PAKISTAN KA is Pierrot’s Troupe’s new production. Premiered in Bhopal recently, the play has already awed the audiences and critics alike a great deal. Now, it is all set for the Delhi debut.

Succinctly speaking, the play takes a fresh, non academic, non political look at the partition tragedy that took place along with the country’s independence.

The story unfolds in the form of an 85 year old man and an Alzheimer’s patient -- Ghazanfar Hussein -- living in a small town in UP, recalling the partition and its immediate as well as long-term aftermath in juxtaposition to the death of his wife a couple of days ago.

In the process, the old man’s non-academic non-descript personal memoirs of the partition question a range of stereotypes about it – its genesis, its causes, its effects – leading, finally, to exploring the unexplored facets of the tragedy.

As regards the production house, Pierrot’s Troupe has, during its brief history, earned the reputation of being the “purveyor” of original plays in India. A good number of these well-received and critically acclaimed ones include: Ghalib in New Delhi, Cut…Cut…Cut, K. L. Saigal, Shareek-e-Ghalib, Tumko Chahoon…, Maulana Azad, Big B, Begum Akhtar, A Private Affair, Massage etc.
