As a successful businessman, Mr. Doug Sherman identified the need to provide an active information resource for people who want to increase their knowledge of their faith, and thereby gain the confidence to argue for their Christian Values even when their view is in the minority. Sherman, the founder of Immaculate Heart Radio and Chairman and co-founder of the Catholic Radio Association, will be the featured speaker at the Tuesday, December 09, 2008 Catholics@Work breakfast forum at Crow Canyon Country Club, 711 Silver Lake Drive, Danville, CA 94526.

Sherman will talk about the challenge of launching a Catholic Radio network and stories of the incredible impact the station’s messages have had on people in their daily lives. He will also share his journey and his decision to convert to Catholicism. A full buffet breakfast is served starting at 7:00 am (Mass is offered at 6:30am at the same location.) Cost is $20 for members and $25 for non-members. To register visit http://www.catholicsatwork.org/EventDesc.aspx.

“Giving people the knowledge base to more deeply understand their faith also changes attitudes, which in turn steels their commitment leading to action,” said Doug Sherman founder of Immaculate Heart Radio.

““As a professor I had once said, ‘There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when circumstance permit. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses, only results,’” said Alison Yount, president of Catholics@Work. “Doug’s story is about commitment.”

Sherman’s efforts have helped increase the total number of Catholic radio stations across the country from seven stations 12 years ago, to over 150 stations today, with another 150 stations slated to start broadcasting in the next few years. Sherman started his first radio station in Reno, NV and with the launch of the Immaculate Heart Radio in the San Francisco Bay Area last year, brought the total reach of his 21 stations to over 18 million people.
