The 17th annual Radio 92.9 EarthFest will return to the Hatch Memorial Shell in Boston on May 22, 2010 from Noon to 5:00 pm, with a stellar line-up that includes headliner Collective Soul, the Gin Blossoms, Crash Kings and Marcy Playground. Presented by Whole Foods Market, the free festival is a celebration for the earth, showcasing national and local music acts, environmentally friendly products and local non-profit environmental organizations. Radio 92.9’s Earthfest is produced in conjunction with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. The event is also the largest free radio station concert in the country. Performers for the event will be announced on Earth Day, April 22, 2010.
In addition to the musical performances on the main stage, the Radio 92.9 Earthfest will also feature Kids’ Planet – an expanded interactive family area. Kids’ Planet will feature a stage with a wide variety of musical acts and entertainment as well as environmental activities and educational displays. Activities in Kids’ Planet will begin at 10 a.m.
The event is expected to draw a crowd of more than 100,000 people. To minimize the environmental impact of the event, a comprehensive recycling program will be put in place for the duration of the show. In addition, Mass Bike will be onsite staffing a free bike-valet program, offering concertgoers an alternative to driving to the festival.
