Sxip Shirey and Rachelle Garniez are both known indivually for their unique take on song and sound. Recently they were asked to collaborate for the first time for a performance at MoMA which resulted in a 45-minute piece of sonic sculpture and song that utilized reversed disc music boxes, roller chimes, prepared guitar, claviaola, voice, toy pianos, egg beaters, ratchet, boxing match desk bell, and other devices. The piece is called Shadow Land. For their October 27th Schizoid Music appearance at the Cornelia Street Cafe, Shirey and Garniez present a full performance of Shadow Land for the first set and then a back and forth presentation of their individual compositions and song for the second set.
