Join Dr. Gaither for a morning of story quilting at the Banneker-Douglass Museum. Learn about the art of story quilting and then create your own quilt square using images and text. Discover how you can tell your own story through fabric. Prior quilting experience is not required. Participants are invited to bring personal photos to scan onto their quilt squares.

Dr. Joan M. E. Gaither is a professor at the Maryland Institute College of Art. Her work has been seen in several museums including the Banneker-Douglass Museum, Maryland Historical Society, Walters Museum of Art, and the Reginald F. Lewis Museum. This program is held in conjunction with the quilt exhibition Journey to the White House by Dr. Gaither on display at the Banneker-Douglass Museum until September 26, 2009.
