The Café will open at 11:30AM with song, and move into a presentation and discussion of the Unitarian Universalists for Justice in the Middle East (UUJME) petition urging investment giant TIAA-CREF to divest from companies directly profiting from Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza. Luncheon will be served at Noon till 1PM. This is part of the WE DIVEST campaign initiated by Jewish Voice for Peace. UUs are in a unique position to support this campaign, since TIAA CREF manages the retirement funds of UUA staff, and touts itself as being a socially responsible investor of clients’ funds. Come meet, schmooze with other local UUs on a subject not at all discussed by either Presidential or Congressional candidates. A representative from Jewish Voice for Peace will be available for consultation and discussion of other Boycott, Divestment and Sanction (BDS) initiatives.
A just resolution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict of 60 plus years will bring a long awaited stability to the Middle East.
