Kick off the new season with a sangria glow on a golden autumn afternoon! Yes, sangria is thought of as a summer drink, which in most places it is, but if you think about the fruit you see floating in your sangria, it’s much more appropriate for fall.

Don’t confuse the cheap red wine and chopped-fruit concoction at the neighborhood frat party with good sangria. Although there is no such thing as a ‘traditional’ or ‘authentic’ sangria, at it’s best, sangria is the perfect balance of inexpensive, but drinkable, red wine, fruity liqueur, brandy, juice, sliced fruit and soda. Pair that with an assortment of Mediterranean tapas and prepare for an amazing evening!

So as you pack up your grill, lawn chairs and picnic baskets to prepare for autumn, remember to leave out those drink pitchers because this sangria recipe works great year-round!
