"Secrets of the Sun" and "California Skies" Take an intimate look at the role the Sun plays in the life of our Solar System. From the nuclear forces churning at the heart of the Sun to the mass ejections of solar material into surrounding space, we experience the power of the Sun and its impact on the planets and ultimately life on Earth. We trace the Sun's life cycle, going back to its beginnings and moving forward in time to its eventual death. "California Skies" will explore the skies above Stockton in this classic planetarium presentation. This live presentation covers the stars, constellations, any visible planets, and any current astronomical events. This show changes from season to season to reflect the current nighttime sky. The show may also include the mythology of the constellations, a tour of the solar system, or a view of some of the deep sky objects. For advance tickets call the Delta Center for the Arts Box Office at (209)954-5110. Hours are Tues-Fri, 11am-6pm, Sat, 11am-3pm. Advance tickets are available in person, by phone, by mail, or on-line. Due to limited seating capacity, advance purchase is recommended. The Friday night shows coincide with "Sky Tours" hosted by the Stockton Astronomical Society. Sky Tours is a star party open to the public where you can observe through telescopes and observe the night sky. This event is held in the Shima 2 parking lot and is free. For more information about this and other Stockton Astronomical Society events see their website: http://www.stocktonastro.org/
