30 Pitt St
Sydney, New South Wales 2000

Come along to "PubCamp - The Web 2.0 Media Day - A Conference and Unconference". It's a free event about the future of media and the Web covering Web 2.0, social and citizen media, the semantic web, mobile, widgets, online advertising and revenue models, copyright, cross-media and more.

You might have heard of BarCamp. Interested in where media is heading? Then PubCamp is for you!

Information on some of the great line-up of speakers and panelists is now available:
http://www.semanticmedia.org/pubcamp/speakers.html

The agenda is available here too:
http://www.semanticmedia.org/pubcamp/agenda.html

The Sydney event:
Wednesday 18th June at 3pm at the Marriott Sydney Harbour Hotel, 30 Pitt St, near Circular Quay. Make sure to get there at 2.30 or 2.45 for a sharp 3pm start.

* Immerse yourself in good ideas with smart people in an information-packed afternoon and evening.

* Share leading-edge insights into where the Web and online media are heading and explore case studies and examples from around the world.

* Be part of a conversation and debate with other people working in media and online.

* Find out how other people are approaching the challenges, and take part in open panel and workshop discussions.

PubCamp - The Web 2.0 Media Day is free to attend and has two parts. A formal conference and briefing seminar with traditional sessions runs from 3-5pm, and an open "unconference" designed to foster community and conversation runs from 6-8pm. Everyone is welcome to attend either or both, and there's a networking session with drinks and nibbles from 5-6pm.

The event will be available online if you can't make it in person.

Get involved and bring along colleagues and friends. If you have topics you'd like to see covered, ideas for presentations, or want to start a conversation, then the Unconference is your chance. It's open for everyone. To nominate sessions or find out more go to the website.

Please pass on an invitation to anyone you think might want to be involved too.

Seats are limited, so RSVP early here on upcoming.

Sorry to see it's on at the same day as Google Developer Day '08

Hmmm... sounds a bit too organized to claim to be like BarCamp, but still a good reason to venture into the city...

jedwhite

We're aiming to get a combination of organised and unorganised together - the best of both worlds if we can.

Announcing the Great Debate at PubCamp.

"That the new world of media choice is a dagger to the hearts of producers and creators alike"

For the affirmative, Richard Walsh.

For the negative, Bronwen Clune.

I'd like to be there, but was at conferences all last week, so can't sneak out of work early to be there. It's a great idea, but would be much easier to do something like this out of regular work hours - over the rest of the weekend like BarCamp.

Hey cyberetto, I know it can be hard to get away from work for events. We've tried to pack things in later in the afternoon to try to help that, and the unconference part starts at 6 after drinks and goes til 8, and we were thinking that still gives folks who can't get away from work a chance to get along and get involved.
Cheers,
Jed

The viral buzz has spread and more than 200 people are attending the first PubCamp tomorrow (Wednesday) in Sydney.

Make sure to arrive from 2.30 and grab a tea or coffee, as it will be a sharp 3pm start. The schedule is really packed in and there's a lot of great stuff. So don't be late.

We've been able to get a larger room than originally planned, so if you know anyone who should come along but hasn't RSVP'd, or want to bring colleagues, it's not too late. Just rsvp online for them or email [email protected].

And don't miss the Great Debate. Richard Walsh and Bronwen Clune go head-to-head on the topic "that the new world of media choice is a dagger to the hearts of producers and creators alike."

Full details of the presentations and speakers are available online at:

It looks like we won't be able to live stream #pubcamp today but are recording the video/audio and will post as podcasts over next few days. We'll announce details when the podcasts are posted.
All the more reason to come along today in person! :)
