'Proposals' is a comedy by Neil Simon set in a beach house in the Hamptons narrated by the family maid, Clemma, who is speaking from the grave. Burt Hines, his daughter Josie, and Clemma are summering at the family cottage. Josie has broken off her engagement to law student, Ken. She is soon inundated with suitors. Among them the very confident, Vinnie Bavasi, of Miami. Josie's mother, Burt's ex, shows up, too. So does Clemma's ex husband, Lewis. It's a time of sorting out the past and the future for all of them.
