Since his first appearance at the Proms - with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra - three years ago, Gustavo Dudamel has become one of the fastest-rising conductors around - and his sensational appearance last year with the Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela was one of the season's highlights.

Not only is he now Principal Conductor of tonight's Swedish orchestra, but next year he succeeds Esa-Pekka Salonen as Music Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Here's a programme to demonstrate his charismatic baton technique - Ravel's heady evocation of a society in decay and Berlioz's arch-Romantic portrayal of obsessive love enclose the UK premiere of Swedish composer Anders Hillborg's Clarinet Concerto, played (as well as danced and mimed) by the sensational Martin Fröst.

* Ravel La Valse (13 mins)
* Anders Hillborg Clarinet Concerto (Peacock Tales) (UK premiere) (28 mins)
* Interval
* Berlioz Symphonie fantastique (55 mins)
