Recent honoree of the prestigious Local Dance Commissioning Project from The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, choreographer Francesca Jandasek Acayan performs Ellesmere, a multi-media work showcasing her creative movement style. Set to an original, gypsy-influenced acoustic and electronic music score composed by Acayan and Pio Tan Acayan Jr., Ellesmere explores the evolution of a community dealing with and reacting to change. Dancers in pointe shoes with arm stilts move through the space with Acayan’s fresh choreography.
An artist co-presentation. Commissioned by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts as part of Performing Arts for Everyone and the Millennium Stage. This project is funded in part by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities and the National Endowment for the Arts.
