The Project8 festival of super 8 film returns for it’s 2007 installment at Video In Studios. Another group of new filmmakers have been through workshops, shooting, hand-processing, editing and are ready to present new works for the first time. From performance films, mini-dramas to formal experiments and animations, this year’s Project8 celebrates the DIY culture of small gauge film in all its possibilities. Including live soundtracks, performances and expanded cinema these films rework the expectations of cinema.

The Project8 collective is a group of Vancouver Filmmakers working to develop our local film community by building access to alternative production models. Through workshops, screenings and the annual festival Project8 is creating a culture of producers and viewers who take the medium of film into their own hands to allow for freer creative expression in a fellowship of collaboration, skill sharing and support.
