Project Linus is a voluteer organization that provides a sense of warmth and comfort to traumatized Madison County children. They will be participating in National Blanket Day in the library’s community room from 9 a.m. — 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 2nd. You are invited to help make blankets that will be distributed to local children in need! Spend an hour or all day working with people who like to have fun while helping others. Bring your own material or use what is provided. There will also be games, prizes and badges awarded to Girl Scouts who helped with the local project.

The Project Linus Mission

Project Linus is comprised of hundreds of local chapters and thousands of volunteers across the United States. Each volunteer and local chapter all work together to help us achieve our mission statement, which states:

First, it is our mission to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.”

Second, it is our mission to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the benefit of children.

Together we have distributed over two million blankets to children in need since our inception in 1995.
