The Smithsonian's 19th museum (The National Museum of African American History & Culture) to be built on the National Mall, will be the only national museum devoted to the documentation of African American life, art, history, and culture. Its collections and exhibitions will cover topics as varied as slavery, post-Civil War Reconstruction, the Harlem Renaissance, and the Civil Rights Movement. It promises to become one of our nation's most prominent
cultural landmarks, and a powerful attraction for visitors to Washington, DC.

Lonnie G. Bunch, III, founding director, will share his vision for the museum and show how it will collaborate with existing cultural organizations in Washington. He will also announce the programs and exhibitions being offered while the museum is being built.
