Predicting Earthquakes and Volcanic Eruptions:

What Can and Can't Now Be Done

April 20, 7:00 p.m. in the OMNIMAX Dome Theater

With Dr. Stephen Malone, a Research Professor Emeritus at the University of Washington. Dr. Malone is active in studying volcanic earthquakes, deep tremor and seismic network operations. Predicting disastrous earthquakes and volcanic eruptions is a major goal of earth science research. This talk will cover some successful predictions of volcanic eruptions and compare these to some previous attempts at earthquake prediction. This lecture is part of the Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS) and Seismological Society of America (SSA) Distinguished Lecture Series.

It is free and open to the public.
