PRAYING WITH LIOR asks whether someone with Down syndrome can be a "spiritual genius." Many in his family and community believe Lior is close to God -- though he's also a burden, a best friend, an inspiration and an embarrassment, depending on whom is asked. This engrossing, award-winning and tender documentary follows Lior as he approaches and ultimately passes through the gateway to Jewish manhood (becoming a Bar Mitzvah), and, in the process, the film shows the immense wealth that communities on the whole stand to gain from practicing inclusion.

Filmmaker Ilana Trachtman will host a Q & A session after all evening screenings during opening weekend. Discounted group tickets are available for organizations [contact Joe or Minos at Cinema Village, 212-924-3364].
