Powell St. John and the Aliens (http://powellstjohn.com/) are opening. Powell's a legendary songwriter. His tunes have been covered by the 13th Floor Elevators, Roky Erickson, Janis Joplin, and many more. His most recent release, On My Way to Houston, on Tompkins Square Records, is a great listen all the way through. The band includes two original members of the Aliens; the masterful Duane Aslaksen on guitar, and Billy Miller, an absolutely amazing electric autoharpist, whose own late 60’s hard psych band Cold Sun’s recordings were recently reissued on CD.

The Jonah Kit will play our brand of gritty, raw folk/country with punk spirit in the middle slot.

Danny Cohen (http://www.anti.com/artists/view/8) is headlining. It's a rare treat, nay, blessing to have this psych-illumined folk/pop alchemist in our midst. His songs are packed with lyrics and melodies that will lodge in your brain, and change its very structure; stories that you'll be contemplating solemnly, laughing about maniacally, gasping over, and relating to others for months after you hear them! Come to the show, and you won't be able to leave without buying a copy of his latest album, Fleas of A Thousand Dannys...not to mention anything else he brings along!
