13 Brunswick Square
Hove, England BN3 1EH

A meet-up for programmers, web developers and designers to discuss and showcase their "£5 apps" - lightweight software created by one or two people who take a simple idea and run with it.

The discussion will range from technical (what tools/languages were used during development) to business (building communities, spreading the word, costs and rewards).

Glenn Jones (http://www.glennjones.net/) one of the founders of Madgex (http://www.madgex.com/) will give a history of setting-up the company:

"From coding all hours in a kitchen to building a multi-million pound specialist digital business. The talk will cover the most frequently asked questions and some of the harder lessons learnt along the way."

After a break for some cake we also have some folks from Clearleft talking about a £5app they've been working on...

We've got this mostly organised, but just holding off posting full details yet.

It's also possibly going to be the last "story-led" £5app. We're probably going to move to a slightly different format, but Ian and I will be bringing that up at the next meet.

As John says - after a 'year of stories' we're moving on to a period of 'how do I move forward?' sessions which will be more like mini-workshops.
The aim will be to get attendees to move their own project/business/website a good step forward every time.
We'll be putting up a mail list and asking on there and at next week's £5 App for topics that need discussion, then John and I will star to organise those sessions.

There are some more notes here on the talks (Glenn Jones @ Madgex, some folk at CleafLeft) and our plans for the workshop sessions:

Just increased the limit on attending to 40 if anyone else wants to come along. Sure we can squeeze in a few more.

Wish I had been there instead of creating invoices all night.
