For our first meeting in May and at our new meeting location Phoenix Objectivists will be joined by Lyndon Lamborn, Renae, and Janet Nash from PostMormon.org.

Recently a billboard was put up in Gilbert that reads: "PostMormon.org -- You are not alone". Our trio of speakers, were local members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and are now part of the PostMormon movement (headquartered in Logan, Utah).

PostMormon.org is an online support group dedicated to assist those who wish to leave or have left the Mormon Church. Members also meet locally too. Our guests will give a panel discussion for about an hour discussing their activities, backgrounds and why they decided to leave the Latter Day Saints Church.

After speaking, the panelists will take questions from audience.

Please join us for what will be an interesting and provocative evening!

I was just curious of why you all decided to leave the LDS church? Were most of you born to the church or converts? I just know that life has its problems and if you don't deal with yourself first how do you or can you make good decisions about God. People are mortal and unfortunately they do make mistakes. Some can't tell you that they are sorry or maybe don't know if they may have offended you. Are you a person with good character or do you just come to quick decision that may be life altering? Why rob yourself of all the blessings that the Lord has giving you through his atonement? Or maybe you would rather listen to Satan in his oh sooo intoxicating ways.

God does not withhold the blessings of the atonement from anyone, no matter what church we attend and no matter how condescending we are to those who don't attend whatever church we do.

It is true that God does not withhold the blessings of the atonement from anyone, but when someone decides to disregard something that they once knew to be true and deap down still know to be true, they are turning away from or "robbing" themselves of those blessings.

God, the one and only true God, does not withhold blessings from any of his children regardless of what man made and concocted religion they believe in...

Mormonism is a cult. All religions are to an extent, but more so Mormonism. Church/religion is just a business people, built on fear mongering, aka hell/satan, who prey on weak minded, impressionable people. the mormon church is the best at this I think. They get people to give away 10% of their salary to the church. Unbelievable! They are morons (so close to the word mormons--coincidence??).

It suprises me how much hate there is towards Mormons (Arch8). This shows how much ignorance and stupidity there is in the world. If mormons are so stupid for donating 10% to the church then what do you call other religions ie. Catholics who also donate during mass? I know that everyone is entitled to their own opinions but it's ignorance that I cannot stand.
Why is it that this pannel came about? Why do these ex-members need help to leave or after they have left? I don't understand. It's not like they lived in some kind of prison or camp. Can someone please explain becuase I don't understand?

Arch8

Not sure why you call me ignorant I am just pointing out the obvious. I am (was) catholic and think the same of the people who donate at mass, just so you don't think I am singling out mormons.

If it is so obvious then why would you say Mormonism is a cult when it isn't. Obviously you know nothing about Mormons.
