Portugal. The Man / ANALO6UE / Run Run Addington / La Verite August 7, 2009

Now based in Portland, Oregon, the band Portugal. The Man is orginally from Wasilla, Alaska. Composed of John Baldwin Gourley on vocals and guitar, Jason Sechrist on drums, Ryan Neighbors on piano, synth and vocals, and Zachary Carothers on bass, percussion and vocals, the sound of Portugal. The Man blends indie rock, soul, blues and folk music. While their debut record in 2006, Waiter: You Vultures!, relied heavily on loops and samplers, their second album, Church Mouth in 2007, featured a more stripped down sound, as did their 2008 release, Censored Colors. Their most recent album, The Satanic Satanist, released on July 21, 2009, features a return of the samplers and loops prevelant on their first album. Portugal. The Man is heavily inspired by their Alaskan roots and have played with bands such as Gatsbys American Dream, The Matches, and The Fall of Troy.
