Portsmouth Historic Dockyard - Armed Forces Weekend events June 25, 2011

Join us for a weekend of FREE events in support of British Armed Forces and Naval Heritage!

Armed Forces Day Celebration Saturday 25th June, 2pm - 4.30pm
Honour and celebrate British Armed Forces: past, present and cadets of the future. Meet Veterans and share their stories, enjoy a 1940s wartime street party with music from Miss Marie and Lindy Hop Solent dancers, learn about make do and mend craft, sample Home Front cookery and ration recipes and have a 1940s style makeover with ‘Lipstick and Curls’!
In Victory Arena with National Museum of the Royal Navy
Centenary Birthday Celebration Sunday 26th June, 11am - 4.30pm
Celebrate the National Museum of the Royal Navy’s Birthday in style at our fun party for all the family! There will be a bouncy castle, face painting, balloon modelling and the chance to take part in Pin the Medal on the Admiral or giant Pass the Parcel. Enjoy Punch & Judy shows and join us at the end of the day for the cutting of the Centenary cake!

HMS Daring and HMS Gloucester open to the public*
Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th June, 10am - 3.30pm
Meet the crews and explore these ships of the Royal Navy
*Ships opening are subject to operational commitments and may be withdrawn at any time. Bags may be searched on entry.

Plus! Be entertained by Band of HM Royal Marines (Sunday only) and the RN Volunteer Band HMS Nelson and marvel at the teamwork of the Field Gun Display team, showcasing demonstrations in aid of Working Age Parkinsons.

These events are free and for this weekend only Portsmouth Historic Dockyard will be offering a 25% discount on site tickets for entry to HMS Victory and National Museum of the Royal Navy, Mary Rose Museum, HMS Warrior 1860, Action Stations and Harbour Tours!
