Much of portrait photography has to do with the psychological relationship between subject and photographer. However, our inspiration and desire to record the likeness of another human being can be arrested by a fear of talking to strangers or inconveniencing our subject.

This workshop is an intensive course in portraiture that will provide you with a new outlook on photographing people. Using his enthusiastic and positive teaching method, Greg Miller will guide students towards a discovery of their unique personal vision in portraiture. Through a dynamic mix of slide lectures, hands-on practice, technical instruction, and critique, students will have the necessary tools to head in new directions with their work. Students will also be guided in talking to and dealing with strangers, obtaining model consent forms, as well as simple location lighting while photographing on the street.

Whatever your current degree of comfort with your subjects, you will be challenged to take your work to the next level by photographing strangers, or tackling the complications of photographing loved ones or long-term subjects.
