Portraits of Paris
A series of French documentary films about the “City of Lights”
(MINNEAPOLIS) – Every Monday in November Francophiles in the Twin Cities can escape to the “City of Lights” in a free film series, Portraits of Paris. The Alliance Française will present five documentaries about Paris at its Minneapolis headquarters. The one-hour films are in French with English subtitles and will be followed by a short discussion. All showings are at 6:30 PM at Alliance Française, 113 N. First St. in the North Loop neighborhood of downtown Minneapolis. The series is produced by the Paris-based Forum of Images in conjunction with the Alliance Française Foundation and the City of Paris.

Nov. 1: Sur les toits de Paris (On the Roofs of Paris) (2002) by Olivier Lassu
A survey of Paris from the perspective of chimney sweeps, artists and roofers.
Nov. 8: Blanche nuit à Paris (All-Nighter in Paris) (2002) by Jérôme Caza and Arnaud Ngatcha A chronicle of an all-night cultural event with multiple venues throughout the city.
Nov. 15: Jusqu’au dernier saltimbanque (Up to the Last Acrobat) (1999) by Laurent Canches
Profiles of street artists who have performed in front of Beaubourg since the 1970s.
Nov. 22: Au fin Moka (2005) by Boris Joseph
The octogenarian proprietress of a bistro in Montmartre talks about growing up in Paris.
Nov. 29: 5-7 rue Corbeau (2007) by Thomas Pendzel
The story of an enormous apartment building that became the biggest slum in Paris.
