mmmPie. Who doesn't love it?

And if you can bake it, bring it!

We're having a Pie-Off, also known as a pie baking contest. There will be judges. There will be ribbons. There will be pie. If you love pie, if you bake pie, please come.

Pie hater? Step off!

Visit the Pie-Off website at http://pie-off.blogspot.com/ to keep up with news, trivia, and important pie information. Follow the madness on Twitter with the #mmmpie hashtag.

Meet us at the Elephant House in Washington Park at 3:00 PM. Bring the family - there is a kick ass playground right next door. There are bathrooms on-site in case you eat too much pie. There is a nice big area shaded with tress, so bring some chairs or a picnic blanket if you like.

It's a perfect way to kick-off the Labor Day Weekend and celebrate two American traditions - pie and competition.

The Pie-Off is brought to you by the Pie-Off Planning Commission. It's all about fun. We are not raising awareness & we are not trying to sell anything. We just love pie, and summer, and all the great local produce.

This is a rather informal event. Registration kicks off at 3:00. Here is what you need to bring:

1. Your freshly homemade pie or pies. Lots of people are entering more than one pie. You can enter as many pies as you have time to bake.
2. Your sense of humor and fun.
3. Something to cut and serve your pie(s) with. This is VERY important.
4. Folding chairs or picnic blanket to sit in the grassy area and hang with you fellow pie enthusiasts.
5. Beverages. You can bring beer or wine. No hard booze. Don't get drunk.
6. Your friends and family.
7. Copies of your pie recipe if you want to share.
8. Anything I am forgetting to mention here.
