Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Chi Minh -

Ports in Vietnam are expected to double in the amount of cargo handled in the next 10 years. In previous years’ government support and funding has been divided up between many Vietnamese ports due to all having a legitimate claim for assistance. As a result, the distribution of limited funds across many projects has hindered large and much needed infrastructure works, port expansions and foreign / private investment.

Over the past 4 years the government has taken action and invested in large scale works on several ports as they become increasingly aware of the impact that key projects can and will make to the country’s economic development. Since 2006 there has been more than 10 foreign companies invest in Vietnam port projects.

Ports Planning & Design Asia will look at the planning and design principles required in constructing and developing a fully functioning port from a greenfield, existing site or an expansion on a current operational port.
