Star Clipper will host an opening reception for artist Marvin Curry's POP WONDERLAND installation at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 18!

Born in 1985, Marvin Curry is aSt. Louis-based pop artist and musician. Curry's early work was mostly manga-inspired comics and portraits. He calls his new style “Blah Art,” which is characterized by intense movement, bright colors, and bold outlines. Working primarily with inks and acrylics, wood is the most important element of his current style: “I greatly enjoy the appearance of wood and think it’s wonderful to feel a textured background.”

Passionate about music, he’s filled notebooks with poetry and lyrics to escape depression and monotony. “I feel my current art style helps to put a smile on others faces, which I love. When I paint I sometimes laugh to myself.” Curry hopes to bring joy to anywhere he can display his “Blah Art." Says Curry, "I'm inspired by wanting to create something fun."

Food and refreshments will be served. A live musical act helmed by Marvin Curry will play during the opening. "Pop Wonderland" will run until Sunday, January 15, 2012.
