MASS will host a Q & A with Sarah Witt and Ian Gamble, creators of the Polymorphic Plastic Parade. As they describe on their website plasticparade.org...

Free and open to the public, the Polymorphic Plastic Parade PPP features a village of tipis made with salvaged and renewable resources. The tipi covers are sewn from discarded plastic lumber tarps. These colorful, woven polyethylene sheets are a common byproduct of the housing industry, but are rarely accepted by recycling facilities. The tipi skeletons are constructed from locally harvested bamboo, an invasive species.

The juxtaposition of modern waste materials with the humble iconic structure of the tipi encourages site visitors to contemplate issues of excess and sustainability in present times. With its native american roots, this exhibit provides a unique, urban space that welcomes spiritual reflection and positive human interactions.

PPP is created and maintained by Ian Gamble and Sarah Witt, Etc artists. Etc. is an international collective of artists associated with elsewhere artist collaborative, a living museum in downtown Greensboro, North Carolina.

The project will tour this summer for 5 weeks, stopping at various locations around the United tates (and Canada.) please visit our expedition page for more information.

MASS will provide drinks and one of PPP's tipis will be on display outside of the gallery. ALSO check out PPP's Downtown Campout in collaboration with Austin Green Art. More info at austingreenart.org.
